Weather Watch

Weatherwatch showers kids with all kinds of information about weather and provides them with a flurry of science-based activities. They’ll discover how to create a mini-downpour using a hot kettle and a tin can, make a rainbow with a pan of water or a garden hose; and set off lightning by chewing Lifesavers. The lively text also takes a look at weather phenomena such as clouds, rain, snow, hail, hurricanes and tornadoes, and “weird” weather like snow rollers (doughnut-like rounds of snow), ball lightning and colored rain. Kids will also learn about acid rain, the depletion of the ozone layer and the greenhouse effect and get some ideas about what they can do to help the environment.
