Following a Charlotte Mason philosophy, this volume is most commonly used by children in grades 5 -7, includes the same type of lessons as in previous volumes, only with more advanced lessons. A heavy focus on poetry – identifying different styles, learning to compose various venues – balances the picture studies, copywork and dictation assignments, and grammar instruction in these 180 lessons. Volume 2 includes more writing instruction, with a focus on speeches for copywork.
