The Student Writing Intensive is an expanded set of demonstration classes meant to supplement the Institute for Excellence in Writing’s teacher training courses, or to provide lessons in the basics of structure and style directly to students. When given live the classes are completed in one week, but on video they can be more effectively implemented over a longer period of time. Grade 7-9

Recorded live, this entertaining and informative DVD writing course by Andrew Pudewa presents structural models and stylistic techniques based on  IEW’s Teaching Writing: Structure and Style Seminar. Each group (A, B or C) presumes no previous experience; levels differ mainly in the type of source texts used, speed of presentation, and sophistication of vocabulary. Choose the level based on your child’s age and maturity rather than writing ability. 
  • For the self-motivated student and an aid for parents, the SWI and Continuation Courses are the ideal vehicle to learn the Excellence in Writing Program.
  • The DVDs teach directly to the students at their grade level.
 The SWI will greatly enhance parent/teacher understanding of the Teaching Writing Structure and Style syllabus, while providing a humorous and energizing boost for students of all ages.
The curriculum provides clear daily assignments and includes vocabulary words, literature suggestions, and lesson plans for teachers.

The SWI prepares a student to write paragraphs, stories, simple reports, and creative writing. It presents all six dress-ups and one of the sentence openers.
