Bookopoly: An Independent Reading Challenge
(October 7 – December 6) – FREE
Attention all game lovers! Over the summer we categorized our fiction books into special genres (categories). Play Bookopoly: An Independent Reading Challenge and discover all the genres found in the Flex Learning Commons and on SORA. Bookopoly runs from October 7 to December 6, and all game boards must be submitted by December 6 to win a prize. There are three levels of play: Green Dot books (K-2), Yellow Dot books (3-5), and Blue/Red Dot books (6-12). Students will need a Bookopoly game board, dice, a stack of affirmation cards, and books from different genres!
HCOS Homeschooling Students: You can download and print your game board and affirmation cards at the link below. You must have an adult initial each genre box after you finish reading your chosen book. Further details are written on the board itself. Scan your completed game board to kelly.ruggles@onlineschool.ca or eduncan@onlineschool.ca. Your name will be entered into the Student Corner Book Review Contest 5 times to win a gift card!
Flex/Kelowna Students: You can either download and print your game boards and affirmation cards at the link below or collect a game packet from Ms. Ruggles at the Flex Learning Commons. You must have an adult initial each genre box after you finish reading your chosen book. Once your game board is complete, drop your game board off at the Flex Learning Commons and choose a prize from Dewey’s Treasure Chest!
All students are encouraged to write a book review for our Student Corner Book Reviews. See the link or QR code for the form, and use a copy to edit with your information. We will be having a Book Review Contest in February 2025. Get early entries by submitting book reviews for your Bookopoly reading!
