A New Learning Commons Experience

As a school, we want to ensure every student has the opportunity for personalized learning choices that are flexible and tailored to their needs and interests. The Learning Commons supports students by offering resources to help them thrive on their individual education journeys. Whether you are looking for a unit study kit, book, online subscription, or webinar, the Learning Commons has you covered.

Over the last year, we have been hard at work redesigning the Learning Commons website based on the feedback shared by our community. Our main goal with the website is for users to get in, easily find resources, and use them. To achieve that, we have simplified navigation and curated information to make it easier to find.

Simplified Access to Resources

A common piece of feedback was that there were too many steps to access digital resources like subscriptions and unit study kits. To solve this, we have added filters to help narrow down what you are looking for. You can also log in to the website with your Encom account to access information in a more streamlined process.

Streamlined Information Structure

We have taken the wealth of information stored on the Learning Commons website and synthesized it into the essential pieces parents and teachers need. The Hub is a central location for blog posts and webinar announcements. We have also updated our Learning Commons for Families book in SOPHIE as the place to go for support with getting started and learning more about the Search Portal, Sora eBooks and audiobooks, curriculum, subscriptions, unit study kits, and our used bookstore.

We are excited to launch today and welcome your feedback. If you have any questions about the site or notice anything out of place, please feel free to email webmaster@onlineschool.ca
