Lesson plans are designed to take place over two days and include a book introduction with scripted questions, first reading instructions for teachers, a mini-lesson, a writing activity, conversation starter, and enrichment activity. The back of the page features a student activity page with response scales for kids to report how they liked the book, a connection exercise, and writing enrichment activity.
A section of assessment activities in the back of the book contains charts to track progress in naming letters, print concepts, fluency, and developmental stages. A section with games and learning aids is also provided.
