Book-Spine Poetry Contest – Spring 2025

small bookspine poetry stack

Hello, all poets and creative writers. We invite you to join in the fun!

To celebrate poetry month, we are running one of our most popular events… A Poetry Contest!

What Is Book-Spine Poetry?  “Book-Spine Poetry is a poem made using the titles of books as the words and lines in your poem.“

Book-Spine Example Poems!

How to make your poem:

  • Use books from home, a friend or family member, a library or a store.
  • Stack the books up to create your poem and take a picture.
  • We want you to find physical books to make this poem! If you can not get to a library or a place with enough books, you can make a poem with images. However, these MUST be images of actual book spines, not images you created.

Who May Join? This competition is open to HCOS & FLEX students in Grades K – 12.

Number of entries: Students may enter up to three (3) poems each.

Contest Dates: April 7th until 10 pm on Sunday, June 1st. After the contest closes, the judges will review all the entries, and winners will be announced in the following week(s).

  6. Prizes will be Amazon gift cards.
  7. To view all of the poems, sign into Padlet.
